STATUS: Part-time, Non-Exempt

We are searching for an Outbound Sales Representative to be responsible for actively soliciting patrons to purchase tickets for our opera season and all ancillary productions of Lyric Opera of Chicago. This may include monetary solicitations. The ideal candidate is a skilled sales professional, who leverages their persuasive abilities to engage potential customers and drive sales and contributions through phone interactions


 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate leadership in accordance with Lyric’s mission and vision.
  • Solicit primarily for the sale of tickets, cross-selling as well as up-selling.
  • Complete outbound calls to solicit donations and demonstrate a knowledge of Lyric’s membership programs and benefits.
  • Ability to solve problems on the phone while maintaining a positive attitude that upholds Lyric’s commitment to excellence.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Voice or Music preferred. 
  • Previous sales experience is a plus but not required. 
  • Working knowledge of and comfort working with:
    • Microsoft and Google suite products
    • CRM expertise (Tessitura a strong plus) not required
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to think fast and adjust a sale to fit each patron’s needs.
  • Strong written skills are required.
  • A positive and friendly work attitude is required.
  • Ability to work and think independently, a motivated self-starter who also works well in a larger team.
  • Ability to use knowledge of Lyric’s  packages and offerings to tailor options to each patron.
 

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate a computer and to handle other office equipment.
  • Flexible hours available: minimum 15 - maximum 29 hours per week. Either weekday, weekend or evening work is required.
 

COMPENSATION: 

Job Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt

 

Hourly rate is $16.60 plus commission
